Water bottles are collected and then de-polymerized and re-polymerized which leaves you with PET (plastic) chips, these chips are then heated and passed through a spinneret to form strings of yarn. This yarn is then woven into fabric which is then cut and sewn into the trunks?

Nope. Recycled polyester wears and performs just like your typical polyester, the only difference is it is made from recycled plastic rather than petroleum. Our particular blend is a lightweight fabric using 90% polyester and 10% spandex to give some stretch.

First, the collection efforts associated with these yarns divert these plastic bottles from ending up in landfill (or other harmful places like our oceans).

Second, this process of converting PET into recycled polyester requires much less energy than in the case of normal polyester. 

Third, using more recycled polyester reduces our dependence on petroleum as the raw material for our fabric needs.

Also, another benefit is that the garments created from recycled polyester can be recycled again and again with no degredation of quality, allowing us to minimize wastage.
